Occam's Razor
Prefer the explanation that adds the fewest unsupported assumptions, then abandon it when stronger evidence demands more complexity. Simplicity is a testing priority, not proof.

A chance explanation needs one familiar mechanism: repeated random outcomes sometimes cluster. A rigging explanation must add new claims—someone interfered, the interference worked, and it escaped detection. Occam’s Razor puts the lower-assumption account first in line for testing because every added claim creates another unsupported way for the explanation to fail. This corrects the pull of Narrative Fallacy: an unusual sequence invites a satisfying cause even when probability is sufficient.

When an uncanny result tempts you toward a hidden-cause story, write down the extra claims that story requires. Test the ordinary explanation first, then demand separate evidence for each additional claim before accepting the more elaborate account.
