Unfounded Axioms
A chain of reasoning can be internally flawless and still produce unreliable conclusions when its starting premises lack support. Logic preserves what the axioms put in; it cannot make those axioms true.
Astrology can look rigorous all the way down—until you reach the bottom. Grant its starting axioms, and the conclusions may follow logically; the problem is that those axioms are “floating in thin air.”
E1Logic cannot certify its own foundations
Deduction tests whether conclusions follow from premises, not whether the premises correspond to reality. Once unsupported assumptions enter at the base, each valid inference can make the system more elaborate and persuasive without making it more reliable. Internal coherence therefore answers “Does this fit the system?”, while external truth requires a separate question: “What supports the system’s first claims?” This is where verifiability and a testable causal mechanism matter.

The episode’s critique is not that every step inside Jyotish reasoning must be illogical. It is that accepting the foundational axioms does the decisive work: the later reasoning inherits their uncertainty, however orderly it becomes.
E1An unsupported premise is not automatically false
“Unfounded” means the available case has not established the premise—not that its opposite has been proved. Axioms are also unavoidable in some formal systems. The warning applies when a system makes claims about the world while its foundations remain beyond evidence, mechanism, or possible correction.
E1Audit the first load-bearing claim
Tomorrow, take one persuasive argument and write its reasoning backward until you reach the earliest claim that is merely granted. Ask what observation could independently support it—and what result would count against it. If neither exists, treat everything downstream as a coherent conditional story, not established knowledge.
