Identical Ancestors Point
Genealogical ancestry expands until separate family trees collapse into a shared web: beyond the identical ancestors point, anyone from that era who left descendants is an ancestor of nearly everyone today. The timing depends on how freely populations mixed.

The startling implication is not merely that two strangers might share one celebrated forebear. Beyond a sufficiently distant point, every person who lived and produced a surviving lineage is probably in both of their family trees.

The claim that Raam could be your ancestor sounds extraordinary only while ancestry is imagined as a few clean, separate lines. In a densely overlapping pedigree, descent from an ancient person with a surviving lineage becomes unsurprising rather than exclusive.

This convergence is genealogical, not a promise that every ancient ancestor left detectable genetic material in you. Recombination can erase a particular ancestor’s contribution, and long-isolated populations delay the point at which family trees converge. Test the exclusive-ancestry claim
When someone presents descent from an ancient figure as evidence of uniqueness, ask two questions: did that person leave any descendants whose lines survived, and were the intervening populations connected by marriage or migration? If both answers are yes, treat the ancestry as potentially widespread—and demand genetic evidence before turning genealogy into a DNA claim.
