Separation of Acquisition and Consumption
Discovery and understanding often demand different kinds of attention. Capture worthwhile material when you encounter it, then consume it later under conditions suited to comprehension.
A long article can reach you at exactly the wrong time: while you are rapidly browsing with neither the time nor the attention to read it. The useful move is not to force yourself through it, but to save it unread.

Acquisition rewards speed: notice what looks promising, make a quick judgment, and preserve access before moving on. Consumption asks for something else—sustained attention, time, and enough mental space to follow an argument. Read-it-later apps make this division explicit by letting a short-attention browsing session feed a later long-form reading session. The mechanism works because you stop asking one state of mind to perform two incompatible jobs.

Create one read-later inbox and reserve a specific recurring session for consuming it. During browsing, capture without attempting a rushed read; during that session, read or delete each item so discovery does not merely generate an ever-growing archive.
