Repetition compresses low-level execution into automatic structure, releasing limited attention for judgment, adaptation, and creative work. Automaticity is valuable when it makes the next layer of thinking possible—not when it replaces thinking altogether.
You do not calculate 7 × 8 each time you see it. Fifty-six simply arrives. What once required deliberate steps has become a single retrievable unit, almost disappearing as work.

Repeated execution changes the task your attention must perform. Separate steps become a reliable chunk; retrieving or running that chunk demands less conscious control. The saved capacity can then move upward—from executing basics to noticing errors, choosing among options, or inventing a better approach. Rehearse that exact unit repeatedly until it runs without reconstruction, then use the freed attention to improve the decision immediately above it.
